Goodbye Peru

Morning everyone. Well this is it. I have officially finished my mission and will arrive home tomorrow.  I feel an immense amount of gratitude for the past two years and the experiences I've had. I'm so thankful for the Lord and the trust He's put in me to see all the miracles I've seen. I truly have loved my mission so much. It has been an incredible opportunity to grow and learn and a time in my life that I will never ever forget.  I wanted to share two takeaways from my mission. Two simple yet very important things I've learned in the last two years. #1: As it says in the scriptures: "Inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper in the land." This is quoted in the Book of Mormon countless times and it has so much truth. There is so much power in keeping the commandments and doing the Lord's will. I can truly say that I have prospered in my life and on my mission, and am so grateful for family, friends, companions, mission presidents, ...

What is up everyone. First things first, I'd like to formally apologize to you all for my lack of sending emails these past few months. I am sorry. Forgive me, but without further ado, let's see what I've been up to. I have been in an area called Tumbes for the past few months, and I am loving it. Our ward is called Los Angeles and it's awesome. When I arrived, wow it was hot. Never had I felt such heat in my life. But over time, and especially now, it's started to cool down. So that's been nice. I started with Elder Titto, my first companion here, and we worked great together. Had a great time with him. Now I'm with a different comp named Elder Johnson. Also great and enjoying my time once again. I also am finally serving around some good friends that I never got to before, so that has also been fun. Since it's been a while, here are some things that have happened recently: -There was an earthquake -Got emergency transferred with a new companion -Ate an...

I'm gonna get right into it this time. Hope you've all been well. Recent events: -got cussed out by an online referral -saw a dead body -almost bought a wicked vintage car for $1,500 -did 2 tie trades, won both -me and my comp caught 2 baby iguanas -cotton eyed joe has been stuck in my head for 3 weeks Actual notable events:  We had a baptism! It was for our friend Valentina and she's awesome!  She already has her temple recommend and is preparing to go next month! Plus she speaks english and she wants to go to BYU so she's basically the GOAT. Great baptism though, first one for Elder Arter. I'm so proud.  It started to rain the other day, for a about 10 minutes. Less of a rain, more like a hard sprinkle. Along with a gust of wind that lasted about 30 seconds. All people were talking about for the next 3 days was how hard the rain was and how strong the wind got. I was like bruh. It was nice to get a little rain though.  We filled our trash can about 2 months ag...

Good morning everybody. Welcome back to the weekly newsletter. I hope you've all had a lovely week. For me, it was chill. Here's why. Last week of the transfer. Worked hard, finished strong. Got transfer news yesterday and I'm staying to finish the training of the young steppa himself, Elder Arter. Getting some friends in the zone this transfer, so I'm excited about that. Ended the transfer off with 4 friends at church, plus 2 that came to second hour. Successful Sunday for sure. Should be a good new transfer. I was asked to film a short video of myself reading a script, inviting people to church. The secretaries put music to it, and without my consent, posted it to the whole mission. I sent the video in, and three days later was bombarded with whatsapp stories of this same video. I am now unofficially the face of the mission. But hey, you know what they say. Whether it's good or bad, publicity is publicity. Last night, we were walking down the sidewalk, when we hea...

Nuns on ripple

Hello my beloved people. I'm back two weeks in a row.  A rare moment to say the least. It's been a great week, and I hope the same for all of you guys.  There's been some crazy and super random events happen this week. Number one. While strolling down the streets of Piura I happened to stumble upon an old, slightly large coin. As I examined the coin, I read the date and saw it was from 1934. What?! You mean to tell me that I found a 91 year old coin, just sitting on the street, while going to a lesson. Yes, yes I do. To add to the magnificence of this event, we went on to teach an exceptional lesson to our friend Eduardo, who, as of yesterday, has now attended church twice, and is next in line to receive a baptismal date.  Number two. While once again strolling down the streets of Piura, yet this time in the midst of many more people, a grey, common Peruvian dove came down and perched itself directly onto the head of an everyday, ol...

Good afternoon good evening and goodnight everyone. I hope you've all been well. It's been a pretty good last few weeks. Enjoying my time out here in Piura.  First things first. The work is going. It is definitely going. Having a hard time getting people to church. There is a problem in the culture here when it comes to committing. It seems to be a factor in my entire mission. But I think this area might be my worst. There is no real explanation to the feeling you get when you realize that one of your friends, who committed several times during the week, including the night before, and sometimes the morning of, is no longer coming to church. And then the feeling repeats about seven more times. It's disappointing for sure but the good thing is we had a friend show up yesterday who is super cool and seems super interested. Hoping for the best with him.  Other than that, things are going great here. We're trying really hard to help the ward beca...

Part 2

Hello my friends and family. It's been a minute. I haven't sent an email since last year.  HA sike I'm not doing that again, but I hope you enjoyed it. Isn't that crazy though that it's been a year since I sent that email? Anyways, I'm back, and I hope you are all doing well. I am doing great, it's been a very eventful couple of weeks.  First things first. I have been transferred once again. This time to a new area called Miraflores 2. A recently opened area, after a long time of belonging to the office Elders. So, no offense to my friends in the office, it hadn't been touched for a while. Which is cool because it means we have a ton of potential, but also means there's not much to work with yet. But that's alright because we're starting things up little by little.  I'm also training again, which is super exciting, plus I didn't get scammed this time like the last time, so that's a win. My new comp's cool. His name's Elder...
