Limp cone

Good afternoon good evening and goodnight everyone. I hope you've all been well. It's been a pretty good last few weeks. Enjoying my time out here in Piura. 

First things first. The work is going. It is definitely going. Having a hard time getting people to church. There is a problem in the culture here when it comes to committing. It seems to be a factor in my entire mission. But I think this area might be my worst. There is no real explanation to the feeling you get when you realize that one of your friends, who committed several times during the week, including the night before, and sometimes the morning of, is no longer coming to church. And then the feeling repeats about seven more times. It's disappointing for sure but the good thing is we had a friend show up yesterday who is super cool and seems super interested. Hoping for the best with him. 

Other than that, things are going great here. We're trying really hard to help the ward because it's currently struggling a ton, and there are rumors spread of it becoming a branch again. Which would be very unfortunate. Let's hope not. But yeah that's kinda the situation here. Things are good though. It's definitely a challenge, but it's a fun and interesting one. 

Random things that have happened recently:
- Comp found multiple bugs in his food yet ate it all
- Ate my first donut in Peru and it was incredible
- Found like 6 white people in a week (never happens)
- Found out a new sister missionary in the mission was in my stake and had no idea
- Bought another watch 
- Found a guy doing a 4,000 piece puzzle of Machu Picchu
- Ate lunch with a member who lives higher than anyone else in Piura (9th floor of a building)
- Everyone in the mission now has their own phone, crazy

Anyway, that's honestly all of what's happened recently. I guess I'll end with a little thought, I was reading recently in 1 Nephi where it talks about how there are 2 churches, and how only one is true. Isn't it so cool that we are literally the only true church in the whole world? It's very cool to me. But just remember guys how privileged we are to have the truth, and how it's up to us to share it with the rest of the world.

What's up everyone? What the heck is going on? I apologize to you all for much lack of actual good email. It's very hard to write a good one in my area haha I don't have much time and we only have one phone as a companionship. But anyways I wanted to give you guys an update on how things have been. This week we had our last interviews with our President. He's leaving in like 2 weeks and we're getting a new gringo one. It's definitely exciting but also very sad. Hello everyone what in the world is up. I hope it's been a wonderful week for all of you. I have had a good week here in the pines (Los Pinos is my area). This week we had a baptism! It was for a girl named Jenny and it was awesome! I got to baptize her which was cool. The font was only halfway full due to lack of water recently, but luckily it was enough. I had to really lower her hahah but it worked. It was a great experience especially since it's been our only one this transfer, and my companion's first one in the mission. We also did it yesterday after church so there were a lot of people there thankfully. This week we got absolutely eaten alive by mosquitos which was awful. I just refuse to put repellent on. I don't know if it's cause of the stickiness or cause every time I smell it I think of the morning of a campout, which might be one of the worst feelings in the world. The ruins

What is up guys. How we doing this fine Monday morning? I hope all is well. I for one, am doing great. It was a fast and good week. Not a ton happened this week. But one cool thing we did find while going to a lesson in this random obscure place, were Las Ruinas. Translation: The Ruins. Need I say more? Or does the title pretty much sum it up? I'll do it anyway. It was basically just these super old structures surrounded by a really old church. It takes a close second to Machu Picchu. Kidding but it was pretty cool. Unfortunately we couldn't go check out more because it cost money and is also closed on P-days. It was cool though. We set up a mini-golf course in our apartment one night, and it was sick. I was going for an eagle putt on one of the rounds but choked under pressure, and had to settle for a birdie. Not bad, huh?
