Nuns on ripple
Hello my beloved people. I'm back two weeks in a row. A rare moment to say the least. It's been a great week, and I hope the same for all of you guys.
There's been some crazy and super random events happen this week.
Number one. While strolling down the streets of Piura I happened to stumble upon an old, slightly large coin. As I examined the coin, I read the date and saw it was from 1934. What?! You mean to tell me that I found a 91 year old coin, just sitting on the street, while going to a lesson. Yes, yes I do. To add to the magnificence of this event, we went on to teach an exceptional lesson to our friend Eduardo, who, as of yesterday, has now attended church twice, and is next in line to receive a baptismal date.
Number two. While once again strolling down the streets of Piura, yet this time in the midst of many more people, a grey, common Peruvian dove came down and perched itself directly onto the head of an everyday, older, female pedestrian. Shocked, we were, as we saw this come to pass. Without hesitation, my companion reached out his hand and grabbed the bird from off her head. This bird, willing to comply with the bold move of my companion, sat comfortably in his hands, seemingly enjoying the attention of the surrounding people, and the caress of the fingertips of yours truly.
Number three. While strolling a third time down the crime ridden streets of this small town. We walked past a certain man, as we had many times before. This said man was always wearing the same hat, which seemed to call my attention each time before. Why? You might ask. Well this wasn't just any hat. This was a vintage, 1998 NBA finals Chicago Bulls, Mitchell and Ness hat. Without thinking, I complimented the hat, and boldly asked if I could purchase it from him. He then asked how much I would give him. I uttered the words "15 soles"($4). Next thing I knew I was strolling down the street for a fourth time, but this time with a practically stolen piece of history in my left hand.
There's some of the things that happened this week, I hope you enjoyed my novel-like accounts. Other than that, we finally had some friends at church yesterday and it was a great meeting. The members also seemed to be helping a little bit more which was a win. Things are slowly coming together, although I'm trying not to celebrate too early as so many have made the mistake of doing in the past. Rookies.
One more thought. Patriarchal blessings. What a cool thing that only our church has. I'm so grateful for mine and the guidance it has given me throughout my life already. I've been reading it more recently; and thoroughly enjoy it each and every time. I invite you guys to read it more, and if you don't yet have it, get it! It will help you in so many ways and provide you direction in your lives, just as it has done for me.
That's all for this week, thanks for tuning in. Love you all.
