PERUUU
¡Estoy Aquí!
Hi everyone! I'm finally here in Peru! The MTC was so awesome but I'm so excited to be here. I took three flights to get here, one was overnight so I only got like 2 hours of sleep that night. We stayed at a hotel and crashed the first night. Next day we watched General Conference and met our trainers. My trainer is named Elder Alvarado and he's from Lima. He knows barely any English so I'm fully immersed in Spanish now. Sometimes it's a bit hard but I'm already learning some stuff and I know I'm going to learn so much more.
My area is called Puerto Paita and it's awesome. It's right on the beach so it's a lot cooler here than other places. We live in the smallest apartment in the mission, and it's pretty small. It's also disgusting so me and my companion are going clean it today. The shower is cold and the head is about where my shoulder is hahaha. It's amazing. I feel like I'm actually on a mission now.
The city is so poor and the people live in super small run down houses with barely any electricity. It is so sad to see and it makes me so grateful for what I have. There's also so many dogs everywhere just roaming the city. Thankfully I haven't been chased by one yet but I'm sure it will happen eventually.
On Sunday we went to the Bishop's house for lunch and had some pretty good food. Somehow everyone else finished their food like 20 minutes before me, which is weird because I felt like I was eating pretty fast. There was some type of meat that was kinda weird and super tough to chew. That's probably what took me so long. I have no idea what it was but it's probably better that way.
General Conference was so good! The best part was when they announced a temple here in Piura! It was so awesome and we all cheered so loud. There were only 5 of us in the room but it sounded like 20. I loved all the talks so much, especially President Nelson's. His advice to think celestial is so cool! Plus, now we all know the secret to living 100 years.
Well that's all for this week, thanks guys!
