Called to swerve
Hey everyone! It's been a while! How are you guys? Sorry I didn’t send an email last week. I had like no time and also not a ton to talk about. But this week I made sure to send one. Anyways let's get into the good stuff. Wow I just started craving Oh's cereal really bad for no reason.
Last week we went to a city called Catacaos. It's like a super touristy city where they sell just a bunch of souvenirs and little cool Peruvian things. It was super cool. I swear I could go there every week and just buy so much stuff. But I got some cool little things, nothing too crazy. I'm definitely gonna go there at the end of my mission and just load up on little Peruvian knick knacks.
This week I had exchanges with my old MTC comp Elder Evans! It was super fun and good to catch up on the good old days. We had some good lessons and had fun. We also got some sushi for dinner which was delicious. Especially because I hadn't eaten it since I was home. Good stuff. Thanks to those who showed me sushi and convinced me to try it. You've really changed my life guys. Kidding but it's pretty darn good. Wow I sound like a dad. Being a missionary really changes you.
Here in Peru they use soles instead of dollars. But the thing is that there's a bunch of different types of soles, and a lot of the Elders here collect them. Recently I've started to catch on, you could say, and it's pretty fun. It just makes small things more exciting hahah. I only have like 15 right now in my collection but it's slowly growing. I need the Machu Picchu coin, it's the rarest one and the one everyone wants. Let me know if you find one, I'd pay a pretty penny for that thing.
Here's a funny story. Here in Perú most of the people greet with a kiss on the cheek and stuff, but obviously we can't do that as missionaries. But anyway, we found this new girl that we're teaching and the other day we went to teach her. When we got there she came right up to me and tried to lay a wet one on my cheek. But if you guys know me, I don't let things like that slide. So I swerved that thing like it was 1995. (I have no idea what that means but it just sounds right). It was very uncomfortable, but I told her that I can't as a missionary and I think she kinda understood. Anyway it was super awkward and I considered passing away after.
Also this week we have transfers! Kinda crazy that 6 weeks have already passed since my son went missing. Haha but this transfer really has flown by. Also I'm pretty sure the elder I was gonna train isn't coming at all anymore, so that's sad. So we'll see what happens with this next transfer! Tomorrow we'll find everything out and see where we're going. Exciting stuff guys.
This week we baptized a guy that's been going to church and listening to the missionaries for 12 years! 12 years guys! He finally stopped rejecting blessings and got baptized hahah. It was a very cool experience though. You could tell he was just super converted. He knew everything about the gospel and was super ready. He finally made the decision during these short 6 weeks that I was here. It was awesome! He gave a super strong testimony after and it was super cool to watch. Very cool experience that I will remember all my life.
Alright time for the important stuff. This week I really appreciated taking the sacrament! Especially because last week we had to bring friends to church and got there late, so we couldn't take it. So this week I was really wanting to take it! Anyway, these days I just really appreciate the sacrament because it gives me the opportunity to start fresh every week. It's like a rebaptism! Not really but kinda. But anyway, I do love me some sacrament.
Well that's about it for this week guys but thanks for tuning in and have a great week! I love you all!
