Rama Vichayal
What is up everyone! First of all, I'd like to formally apologize...again, for my lack of emails. I promise I'll be better from here on out. But anyways, I hope you've all been well. I, for one, have been doing pretty well.
I may be in my last week here in Vichayal, which is crazy. I've been here for almost three months, and it's been awesome! It's such a different experience here and I love it. I'm definitely gonna miss the open field here a lot and the fact that our pensionista makes us lunch and dinner almost every day. Insanely clutch. But we'll see what happens next week, transfers are always exciting. There's a bunch of people leaving this transfer so I'm sure there will be a good amount of movement. But hey, you never know.
Speaking of my area Vichayal. They just announced last week that we will be advancing from a family group to branch! It's super exciting news and I can't wait for it to happen. Unfortunately, I probably won't be here to see it in action but I'm glad I was able to witness the announcement.
Tomorrow we will be officially meeting our new mission President! I'm pretty excited and I've heard a lot of good things about him. We have a Zone Conference tomorrow with him and then interviews after. It will definitely be strange to speak with an adult North American, but it will be a great experience I'm sure.
Due to the recent news of my good friend Elder Harris acquiring a charango, I have now proceeded to do the same. For those of you who don't know, a charango is a classic Peruvian guitar-like instrument. It is about the size of a ukulele and it has ten strings. I had a ukulele, but sold it to another rookie missionary and bought myself a charango. It's definitely interesting to play, but it's fun and I've been trying to learn. Picture below.
Here's a small list of things that have happened recently:
-Saw llamas for the first time in my whole mission
-Ate some scrumdiddlyumptious lomo saltado (classic Piuran plate)
-Had the most average 4th of July of my life
-Bought some incredible hand made leather sandals
-Presided with my comp yesterday in sacrament meeting
-Went on mini exchanges with my trainer
-Got this sick new apron at a little pop up market(picture below)
-Did a baptismal interview for a 12 year old kid that's addicted to coffee
Hope you enjoyed the list.
Well anyways, lemme end on a quick spiritual thought about the Sacrament. I've already talked about this a couple times but can you really talk about it enough? No. What an incredible gift we have. To renew the promise we made with our Heavenly Father. Even when we may break it so often. We can just renew it every week. Just llke that. How cool is that? Don't forget to go to church guys, and take the sacrament, they are an essential 15 minutes in our week and I invite you all to remember the importance of it.
Well guys I love you all. Hope you all have a fantastic week. Also shoutout to my sister Gillian cause it's her Birthday tomorrow. Peace.
Elder Spangler
