Brackets
What's up everyone! I'm back on another P-day, with another email, with some other stories. It's been an alright week not gonna lie. Tough but good as well.
We were supposed to have a baptism this week but it sadly didn’t happen. Her name is Olga snd she was super ready but when we brought up her baptism, she told us that she had been attending another church, and that they were giving her and her family "benefits." Definitely an L, she just cant see the big picture for now. We'll just have to keep working with here until she realizes that our church is better than everyone else's. Hahah kidding but I mean, it's true.
This week has been pretty tough with my companion for a couple of reasons. I don't really wanna explain everything but I would appreciate your prayers. But the crazy thing is that I only have like 2ish weeks left in this transfer! Crazy. We'll see if I can survive. Kidding it's not that bad but it's pretty tough at times.
What else what else. Oh something really funny here in Peru is braces (they call them brackets). All the people that have braces are automatically cool because it means they have money and also just because braces are cool here. It's just funny because it's like the exact opposite in the US. But the very funny thing is that half the people that have braces don't even have a wire. They just have their braces glued to their teeth to flex but in reality it's not doing anything for them. Interesting country.
Apparently the area I'm in is pretty dangerous. Almost every single member or person tells us to not be in this certain area at night. Luckily, we've been fine until now but the other day we almost got robbed hahah. Some guy started walking closer and closer to us, and then he asked for the time (oldest trick in the book). We just kindly told him the time while walking away quickly. But if we had been slow or not known what was happening he definitely would've robbed us. It was close, some might say too close.
The other day in church they were talking a ton about tithing, and the importance of always paying it. Something I've learned a ton here on the mission is the importance of the commandments. Sometimes they may seem like restrictions or rules. But in reality they are there to help us be happier. Heavenly Father loves us and wants us all to be happy! Keep the commandments guys so you can be happy!
Well that's about it for today guys, but thanks for tuning in. Love you all and hope you have a great week!
