No roasting at this school
What in the world is up guys, we're back with another email. Hope everyone is well and enjoying life. I have been having some fun out here in Peru, just absolutely chilling. But anyways, it's been a quick and good week, let's see what happened.
This whole past week I was kinda sick with a small cold, which was kinda lame but it's all good. But the funny thing is that here, everybody thinks that drinking cold water causes a cold. They always get mad at me for drinking cold water in the blazing heat. But when I try to explain to all of them that it doesn't matter, they never believe me. It's very interesting. They basically think that anything cold that comes in contact with your body will make you sick.
For example, my companion was a little sick last week, just because he just caught some small cold. But one day he told me it was because he walked into a grocery store that had air conditioning. My mind was blown. I don't know who brainwashed these people, but I'll tell you one thing, my brain will remain unwashed. Careful out there guys, gotta watch out for that AC, it'll getcha.
We had ward council last week, and our mission leader absolutely roasted me in front of everyone for not having enough communication with him. I wanted to roast him back, but I had to remember that that's not my job. So my companion did it instead. I'll save that story for another time. But all the roasting took me back to my elementary school days when they announced that roasting was officially banned. It was a tragic day, almost as tragic as the day they banned fidget spinners.
The other day we were walking down the street, and I felt this weird warm drop fall onto my neck. I looked up and realized it was a bird pooping. It was disgusting. Luckily it didn't get on my shirt but it was still not a very pleasant experience. But the best part is that my Peruvian companion told me that every time that happens to someone, they randomly receive money pretty soon after. So that's kinda sick, still waiting for that money though. I'll drop my venmo in the next email in case it never arrives.
All the youth in our ward this week went to FSY and I was remembering the good old days when I went a couple times. It was such a fun week but also one of the most spiritual experiences in my life. I learned some really great lessons while being there, one being that the gospel is a gospel of happiness, and the commandments are there to help us be happy. At times we think that they are restrictions, but in reality, they help us to be happier and make better decisions!
Remember that in this gospel, we can all still have fun and enjoy life while doing what our Heavenly Father asks. I challenge you guys to all remember that this gospel blesses all of us in so many different ways, and everyone needs it. Don't be afraid to give someone a Book of Mormon, or invite them to church, it may seem like something strange at first or uncomfortable, but it could really change someone's life!
Well that's about it for this week, but I love all you guys, thanks for all the love and support! Until next week!
