Raw squid
What's good everyone! I'm back from yet another week in the mission, it's been crazy. I had a pretty busy week so it went moderately fast.
On Wednesday we had my second multi-zone conference. It was super fun to see everyone including all the new missionaries that arrived. Got to see my good hacky sack friend Elder Harris. Haven't seen him since I left the MTC so it was a good little reunion. All the new missionaries participated in the cake smashing tradition, and it was good to just sit back and watch this time. Feels good to not be as much of a rookie anymore. I guess you could say I've been around the block once or twice.
Speaking of going around the block, we went to the mall this week and it was actually so sick. It was super nice and there was a ton of stuff. Saw some sick Adidas forums and was definitely tempted to buy them for a sec but don't worry I stayed strong. In Peru, just about everybody here owns some type of fake shoes. They make so many fake nikes and everybody buys them cause they all feen for anything nike. Another funny thing is all the people think my New Balance are Nikes just because they have a big N on them. Classic Peruvians.
I had exchanges this week with my buddy Elder Hill. He is super awesome and it was so nice to be with another gringo for a day. He also showed me a bunch of super good fruits and made me some fuego crepes. They weren't half as good as yours Mom and Dad, don't worry. But it was a super fun exchange and a well needed break. Not gonna lie, things are pretty tough right now with my companion so I'd appreciate some prayers. Thanks guys.
At church yesterday, there were a couple kids with Rubik's cubes so of course I had to show them my skills. In case you didn't know I used to be a hard cuber back in the day. So I showed them a couple tricks and the look on their faces was amazing. It was like they had just won a million dollars. Also the kids go crazy whenever I spin a ball on my finger, they think it's so cool. Yeah, I've got a couple tricks up my sleeve. It's not a big deal though.
We had lunch today at the same member's house that made us the crackling squid (if you remember my email from a couple of weeks ago). Today he made us more squid, but it was squid ceviche. Which is just a bunch of raw squid chunks soaked in lemon and onion juice. It was delicious. I actually really liked it. After all,I am a sucker for some good squid.
We had a baptism this week! Our friend Orlando got baptized and it was super awesome. I'm super excited for him. We also attended another baptism for some other Elders in our ward and it was great as well. It was a kid that was like 9 and when he got baptized he shot out of the water so fast and grabbed the edge like his life depended on it. It was so funny. We all had a good chuckle afterwards.
Honestly this week's been kinda hard, but something I've been thinking a lot about is how Heavenly Father has a plan for me. Anytime it gets hard, and I don't understand why, I just remember that there is a plan for me, and whatever is happening in my life is for a reason. Push through the hard times guys, there are blessings and rewards ahead. I promise that Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of you, and he will never abandon you.
Have a great week guys, thanks for the love and support! Don't forget to like and subscribe.
