Racism at its finest

There's only so many ways I can start my emails. But what up. Hope you're all good. I've been pretty good, starting to get really used to mission life. Tomorrow is my 3 month mark! Super crazy. Ok now let's get into the email.

I saw white people! It was crazy, first non-missionary white people that I've seen since I got here. There was a huge cruise ship that stopped here for a couple hours and there were a bunch of people taking pictures and touring the area Puerto Paita. I only got to talk to 2 people but it was still so weird to be able to talk to a person on the street in english. They probably thought I was weird cause I got so excited when they told me they spoke english. My companion probably thought I was racist too because of how excited I was.

Speaking of racist, the other day a family was asking me about the United States and stuff, and they randomly asked me If I considered myself to be racist. Of course I don't, but I didn't understand the question so I was just like yeah. Then everybody started laughing at me and I got confused and embarrassed. This is something that happens daily by the way. But anyways, my companion finally explained it to me and I told them I wasn't racist. Hopefully they believed me.

The other night we were walking and suddenly everybody just started screaming super loud. I got super scared and my first thought was there was a guy with a gun on the loose. Turns out, Peru has scored a goal during their game and everyone was just celebrating. People go crazy here for their futbol. Not sure why my first thought involved a guy with a gun, I think I've seen too many movies.

Remember the Elder in my last email that said he liked the toxic women, turns out he also likes twelve year olds. He is very strange, but who am I to judge. But anyways after I told him to go to Utah, I told him to watch this new movie called Sound of Freedom. Just kidding again. Hopefully you guys don't think my jokes are too far.

They have this dessert here called arroz con leche, which just translates to rice with milk. But it's actually so good. It's literally just rice cooked in milk with some cinnamon and it's gas. It's amazing how simple some foods here are, and how people use their resources. It's also super easy to make. If you don't cook, just remember that "anyone can cook." Another profound Ratatouille quote for you my fans.

I had transfers this week! But I'm staying here in Paita with my companion to finish my training. I like my area a lot so I'm happy, but definitely excited for the future and what it holds. But for now, I just gotta focus on finding another white person. I mean finding more people to teach. I promise I'm not racist guys.

Anyways, something important that will actually help you guys. The sacrament! Before my mission, I never really appreciated the sacrament. But since I've been a missionary, I love it! It's such a blessing that we can start fresh every week and always strive to improve. I challenge you guys to remember the meaning of the sacrament when you take it each sunday. I promise that you guys will see blessings and feel more excited to go to church every week!

Anyways, that's about it for this week. But thanks for all your messages guys! I hope you're all doing great. I'll see you all next week.
