Frankenweenie
What's up everyone! I'm back from another long yet quick week. I hope all of you are doing well. This week was super busy and we had some great moments. Here are some:
We had exchanges last Tuesday and I had to lead the area for the first time! It was definitely stressful, but I got through it. It was also basically the most important day of the transfer so that was crazy. We were supposed to place like 5 Baptismal dates and we ended up placing none. The people just either weren't home or weren't in the mood to get baptized. For some reason the people here are rarely in the baptizing mood, it's kinda weird. But it's all good because we worked hard that day so I still felt fulfilled.
We play basketball in the mornings with a bunch of grandmas and it's so fun. I'm also taller than everyone here which makes it more fun. But it's so funny because the people think I'm so much better than I actually am. After we played for the first time they were all asking me my age and where I'm from and what college I go to. After the game my companion asked me if I played in the NBA before my mission. It was my greatest moment.
There are so many dogs here, and luckily most of them are pretty nice. The other day I saw the skeletal remains of a dead one, it was crazy, I thought I was watching Frankenweenie for a second. Speaking of Frankenweenie, it's almost Halloween! But the people don't celebrate it here which is sad. But if anyone needs a costume idea here's one. Dress up like Funky Kong from Mario Kart Wii. He wears a wife beater, jorts, sunglasses, and a dew rag. It's sick.
The other day I found my new favorite Spanish word. Niño rata. Which technically means little boy rat but it translates to squeaker. It's amazing. When I learned it for the first time I laughed so hard. Not entirely sure why but I think it's so funny. Grayson, if you're reading this you officially have a new nickname.
We're teaching this guy named Henry and he's super awesome. He's also HUGE. Every time he shakes my hand his forearm veins are popping like crazy. It's like they're chiseled from stone. It's always crazy when you find your real life twin. Hopefully we can keep teaching him and put him on date to get baptized soon!
Something that's been on my mind a lot this week is President Nelson's advice to think celestial. I'm sure you guys have heard this a million times but I think it's so cool! It makes decision making 10 times easier and it is seriously the secret to happiness. I want to invite all you guys to always have this mindset. I promise that when you guys think celestial, you will find so much joy and peace in your lives.
That's it for today, thanks for all your emails and little responses, I always appreciate them! I promise I read them sorry if I don't respond to them all. Love you guys!
