Exchanges

How's it going everyone! I'm back after my second full week here in Peru. It's been a pretty quick week. On Saturday I hit my 2 month mark as a missionary which is crazy. I'm already almost done and I feel like I just got here.

I did two exchanges this week which was fun, and it also made the week go by a lot faster. One of them was with Elder Pratt, one of my Zone leaders. He is so awesome, a super good missionary. The best part about the exchange is that he speaks English haha. I know I'm learning a lot with my native companion, but it was so nice to be able to just talk in English for a day with someone. I could finally ask questions and receive answers that I could fully understand. He also gave me a lot of great advice about my mission and about learning Spanish.

On Wednesday I taught an English class to a couple of kids and it was so fun. We just did the basics like the alphabet, numbers, etc. But the best part was listening to them try to pronounce the letter R. It was so funny and I was laughing the whole time. I felt kinda bad but I don't think the kids cared at all. The kids here love to ask me to speak English for them. So I always just say something as fast as I can and the look on their faces is always so funny. Also, a lot of the older guys we walk past will say something like "Hey how are you" and It's funny because that's basically all they know.

One thing that the people say here a lot is "¡habla bien!" I've come to the conclusion that it basically means "what the heck," "oh my gosh," and "holy cow, " all in one. It's so fun to say because it can mean so many different things. I also love to use the word "causa," which here in Peru means "bro" or "bruh." Those are just a couple new words I've started to use this week in case you wanted to know.

Today we went to this massive grocery store and it was huge and super nice. It was just like Walmart so I felt right at home. When we were buying our stuff the cashier said something to me that I didn't understand, so I asked my companion what he said. He told me he was speaking English haha and it was kinda embarrassing. I can't even hear my own language, I don't know if that's a bad thing or a good thing.

The people here never feed us any bread which is sad because I love me some bread. So I am always craving it, and on Friday I was especially craving it haha. That night we went to a member's house and while we were talking she brought out a huge plate of bread for us. It was amazing, and delicious. It doesn't sound like that big of a deal but it really gave me a boost. It was definitely a tender mercy from my Heavenly Father, and a reminder that he always cares for me and watches over me.

Heavenly Father loves and knows us personally. He wants to bless us, and all we have to do is ask. Prayer is something that has been really important to me these last couple of  weeks. The ability to communicate with my Heavenly Father every day is such a blessing. I know that Heavenly Father listens to every single one of us when we pray. Prayer is such an amazing gift we have and I invite you guys to take advantage of it.

That's all for this week guys. I hope you are all doing well! Also Happy late Birthday to my Brother in law Rob, love you!
