I'm human

What's up everyone? What the heck is going on? I apologize to you all for much lack of actual good email. It's very hard to write a good one in my area haha I don't have much time and we only have one phone as a companionship. But anyways I wanted to give you guys an update on how things have been. This week we had our last interviews with our President. He's leaving in like 2 weeks and we're getting a new gringo one. It's definitely exciting but also very sad. I love our current President and he's made a huge impact on my mission. It'll for sure be like that with the new one though so it'll be great. It'll definitely be weird though talking to him in English. It's been a while since I've had an in person conversation with an American adult. Hopefully I don't say something wrong because that would be, let's just say, my worst nightmare. Speaking of a new president. They've been changing a ton of rules here and just basically r...

French gringo

Hello everyone here I am again after another week! Its been an eventful 2 weeks and today I'll give you guys quick update on the past few since I've been lacking on the emails.  This week we had transfers! I'm staying in my area Vichayal, which I'm chill with. I got a new companion though his name is Elder Rodriguez and he's chill. It'll be a good transfer it seems like. The work here is going pretty good, recently it's been hard to find new people that will actually progress, but in these past couple days, we've found some so that's been a blessing. Either way if we have a ton of success or not this transfer it'll still be a good one. Last week we heard about a guy from France that lived in this little village called Rio Viejo. So we went and knocked on his door that was surrounded by this massive wall and gate. Some 50 year old white dude answered and said we could come in. Holy cow this place ws nice. He had this like mansion with a huge court...

I'm back

Image
Hey guys I'm back sorry for the pause in my weekly newsletter. It's been very busy here and hard to write emails due to the lack of a computer. But it's all good cause I'm back with a very short update.  Vichayal my area is doing pretty good. We got a couple married and baptized on Saturday which was super cool. Very time consuming and difficult but super worth it. We also baptized a kid named Alvaro last week, he's super cool and it was great to see him get baptized. The work is going pretty good here. Transfers are already next week which is crazy. You'll all find out what happens next week in my next email. Honestly though I have no idea what'll happen, so it'll be exciting. Anyways sorry this was super short I've got no time but here's some pictures of what's been going on. Love you guys thanks for tuning in! Elder Spangler

The ruins

What is up guys. How we doing this fine Monday morning? I hope all is well. I for one, am doing great. It was a fast and good week. Not a ton happened this week. But one cool thing we did find while going to a lesson in this random obscure place, were Las Ruinas. Translation: The Ruins. Need I say more? Or does the title pretty much sum it up? I'll do it anyway. It was basically just these super old structures surrounded by a really old church. It takes a close second to Machu Picchu. Kidding but it was pretty cool. Unfortunately we couldn't go check out more because it cost money and is also closed on P-days. It was cool though. We set up a mini-golf course in our apartment one night, and it was sick. I was going for an eagle putt on one of the rounds but choked under pressure, and had to settle for a birdie. Not bad, huh? Thanks to my brother in law Rob for showing me the ropes, in both real life and VR. It was fun though. First word of advice: don't try to use a dust p...

Rama coming soon

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been a while but I wanted to give you all a quick update on how things have been! Last week we had transfers and I got moved! I'm in this tiny little town called Vichayal and it's awesome! I'm also with one of my good friends Elder Thompson from my MTC district so that's sweet. This place is super small, they don't even have a branch here. It's literally called a family group. It's super cool to be part of the work here though. We're close to getting a branch so hopefully we can make that happen soon. It's such a small little village here just surrounded by endless rice fields. It's actually really cool and super green. There are an insane amount of mosquitos though so I've finally given in to putting some repellent on, and it's not that bad hahaha. But it's just pure country out here with basically nothing. I also don't have a chapel with a computer so my emails will definitely be weaker these couple ...

Hello everyone what in the world is up. I hope it's been a wonderful week for all of you. I have had a good week here in the pines (Los Pinos is my area). This week we had a baptism! It was for a girl named Jenny and it was awesome! I got to baptize her which was cool. The font was only halfway full due to lack of water recently, but luckily it was enough. I had to really lower her hahah but it worked. It was a great experience especially since it's been our only one this transfer, and my companion's first one in the mission. We also did it yesterday after church so there were a lot of people there thankfully. This week we got absolutely eaten alive by mosquitos which was awful. I just refuse to put repellent on. I don't know if it's cause of the stickiness or cause every time I smell it I think of the morning of a campout, which might be one of the worst feelings in the world. But either way, I HATE putting that stuff on. But alas, I might have to sta...

Buzzcut season

Image
Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing well! I'm doing great! Just absolutely chilling out here in the slums. The boonies, if you will. It's been a pretty quick week once again, which seems to be going by faster and faster as time goes on. This week we had some good little interviews with the man himself. President. Who sadly only has about 2 months left as our president. But anyways, the interviews went great and we had some good food after at the mission home. Little chicken broaster with some tasty little platano cups filled with a little onion concoction. A definite Peruvian masterpiece. My son Elder Webster this week took the bold decision to get a buzzcut, and I was tempted to do the same. But I didn’t crumble under pressure this time. He also shared his testimony yesterday in Sacrament meeting and it was great, it was a proud father moment. They grow up so fast don't they.  Something crazy I forgot to mention last week is that when I was on exchanges, the carbon monoxi...
